Strong winds and storms were recorded in different locations in Tucumán, after the close of the presidential elections, which caused power outages, roofs being blown off, and trees falling. The director of Civil Defense, Fernando Torres, pointed out that this Sunday surveys were being carried out in the affected areas, where his personnel worked together with Volunteer Firefighters and members of the municipalities and communes. “The inclement weather caused the roofs to be blown off in around 30 homes in the Burruyacu area and so far no victims have been reported,” Torres said. On the other hand, the report from the company in charge of distributing electricity, EDET, indicated that outages occurred in La Cocha, Taco Ralo, La Invernada, La Madrid, Santa Ana, Villa Quinteros, Burruyacu, Garmendia, La Ramada, El Rodeo , La Virginia, Trancas, Choromoro and Villa Benjamín Araoz. Torres pointed out that "the wind gusts in the northeast of Tucumán, almost on the border with Santiago del Estero, reached 60 kilometers per hour and in the southern province, in the Simoca area, they reached 50 kilometers per hour." In Tucumán “a yellow level alert for storms is in effect from this Sunday until this Monday morning,” indicated the director of Civil Defense. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Service report detailed that "the area will be affected by storms of varying intensity, some of which may be locally strong." “It is expected that they will be accompanied by strong gusts, occasional hail, strong electrical activity and abundant falls of water in short periods. Accumulated precipitation values between 15 and 35 mm are expected, and may be exceeded from time to time," the statement added. The storm began shortly after the close of the general elections in Tucumán, where more than 80 percent of the voters eligible to vote went to the polls to elect the president and national deputies.
