The possibility of a meteorite crashing into the Earth has always been a latent threat that has motivated even great Hollywood movies. Now, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) made history, as it was successful in the mission to bring back samples of an important asteroid, which will help scientists “better understand the types of asteroids that could threaten Earth.” This was stated by the head of the space agency, Bill Nelson, when explaining the importance of having managed to land the largest asteroid sample ever collected on Earth, in the Utah desert on Sunday. The sample, containing about 250 grams of material from the asteroid Bennu, is NASA's first and is significantly larger than the two samples previously collected by Japanese missions.
