Jackson threw the hat to the side of the stage at a 1983 show. A show attendee kept it and put it up for sale / Photo: file. The hat that Michael Jackson wore during his first moonwalk dance, which was rescued by an assistant of the musician at a show in 1983, was sold for USD 82,000 during an auction in Paris in the presence of numerous fans and curious onlookers. It is a fedora hat, made of wool lined with silk, it was valued between 60,000 and 100,000 euros, and it was the main object of an auction sale that brought together 200 objects from the world of rock, organized by the Lemon Auction firm. The person responsible for recovering that object was Adam Kelly, an assistant at the show that Michael Jackson gave on March 25, 1983, and he kept it for several years before selling it to an American collector. The hat then reappeared in a European collection, reported the AFP news agency.
