<p dir="ltr">A two-year-old girl from Salta was able to hear for the first time thanks to the brain stem hearing implant (ABI) that was placed in a highly complex neurosurgery performed two months ago at the El Cruce de Florencio Varela Hospital in the country, considered a &quot;milestone of public health&quot; since it is the first operation of this type in a public hospital, reported this Friday the professionals who intervened and the girl&#39;s family. &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">Guillermina Gorbal was born completely deaf, with profound bilateral hearing loss, without a cochlea or auditory nerve, and the only possibility she had to begin to perceive the sound stimulus was through the Brainstem Auditory Implant. &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">Given this situation, the girl was operated on June 16 at the El Cruce N&eacute;stor Kirchner High Complexity Hospital, located in the Buenos Aires town of Florencio Varela.
